Recently I read the term ‘architectural burger’ (McCity, Klaus, Revista Arquine No. 67) a building that has been absorbed in the vortex of the globalization. Not just for the materials but the design, it could be in any part of the world, exist in Tokyo, New York or in here, it would be the same, they are made by the same recipe. This corner is an example of it, it doesn't matter where is it factually. It’s a generic space, free of context, dislocated, flanked by two generic restaurants, topologies of the global economy: Starbucks and a Chinese food chain. When you look at it, there is no doubt of the globalization, the same materials, the basic design, the same stores, the lights, the feel that you have been there before… there are millions of spaces around the world that mix and merge to create the illusion of nearness, of security base on the familiar.
