On research however, I discovered that the Stone used in the Tower of London was actually quarried by the Normans in Caen, France. The quarried stone would have been transported by boat across the channel and up the river Thames for the Norman masons to begin constructing the first tower. The Shard, Britain's tallest building, was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano and utilises 11,000 pains of glass, cut and produced in Holland. Other materials, skills and labour would also have been sourced globally. ![enter image description here][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1414527442798801.jpg
