Located in Seoul, South Korea, the university was founded by an American missionary and strongly reflects global ideas. Unlike the rest of Seoul, which is largely urban with islands of nature, Ewha is largely nature dotted with buildings. Designed by a French architect, the entrance is a valley using a fair amount of concrete, glass, and steel (likely imported from China, back when South Korea was an net importer rather than exporter of steel). From a wider view, there is a lot of grass and gardens with gothic brick buildings. I imagine it used a fair amount of (imported) machinery, electronics, transport equipment, and energy (oil) to "create" the hill on which the university stands and all its various buildings. ![Ewha Womans University - a wider view][2] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/141690025758752.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14169005767503948.jpg
