In European geographical space, future cities will grow from ancient cities, from roman or medieval cities specially. And this growing must be always respectfully with the past, not only because of one artistically admiration, but because of the economical sectors involved in this issue: tourism, urban and urbanite developing, leisure time zones, improvement of living conditions with a more pleasant environment. And here the restoration processes are highlighted, applying nowadays new methods, new materials and new researching processes. The restoration of the 12th century cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, involved in one big redefinition project, is a perfect example (although I think it needs more than a restoration: a redefinition in the future of the city).
