The usage of materials, produced locally on the territory of Ukraine is still dominant with few components of foreign industry. It is explained by the fact that a huge amount of factories was built during Soviet Union period. The development of heavy industry, metal industry was in high importance at that time. For example, this picture depicts the panel housing in the residential area called Saltovka in Kharkiv built 40 years ago. Construction was made of prefabricated concrete panels and blocks with already inserted windows and doors. It was very typical Soviet way of solving residential urban problem. Thus, the building industry is still remain active in Ukraine. Companies use equipment and technologies from Europe and USA but all raw materials, workers and manufacturing process have Ukrainian origin.
