A building boom is underway in this community. Every aspect of the design and construction process is global. The financing of the project likely comes from global capital flows. The architects that design these buildings are global companies, with mandates coming from all over the world. (A noted Spanish architect is involved in a nearby project.) The materials are procured from global supply chains. The occupants will likely include Fortune 500 companies, which, on average, sell just under half of their products and services outside of the United States. Dallas is in the news recently due to global flows of a deadly virus -- Ebola -- but it is a major international trading center and the building boom underway is catalyzed by the migration of capital, people and knowledge to this destination.
