[1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14161455464073674.jpg Wood floors are quite common in North America and Europe. But not all the countries in these areas produce enough wood to cover their internal demand. Some global companies from Northern Europe like Pergo, Junckers, Kärs or Targett sell their products everywhere directly or through large international chains like Leroy Merlin or Home Depot. But they not only obtain their wood from forests in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway or Germany. They also acquire tropical and exotic wood from Brazil, Indonesia or Malaysia. Legal or illegal logging is increasing the rate of deforestation. Only in Indonesia, 2.8 million of ha are lost every year, which is equivalent to the size of Belgium. This is an example of globalization in construction that is having dangerous consequences.
