While there was great emphasis on the home's conservation of energy use and management of water there was less concern of locally sourcing materials. The LEED rating system does place importance on renewable materials so technically the front door would fulfill this requirement. The wood for the door is from a sustainably managed forest however, it was sourced and sent from Santa Domingo negating the positive impact of the kind of wood used. This is also directly in opposition to consider the carbon footprint of the building of the home.
