The front and side elevation of the original early 1800's building has been retained. The materials used were local stone and brick construction. The rest of the photo shows what is now nothing just a demolished space which is presently being piled (the machine and drill stands magnificently towering above the residential street below. I chose this because of the contrast between the old and new in terms of globalised materials. The concrete could come, and probably will, come from anywhere on this globe, as will all the materials such as glass and particularly specially processed and treated stainless steel which is to be used in the replacement roof both above new-build and the old original facades.
