![Atelier 2 under construction][3] [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14139429086895724.jpg I took the picture about two months ago and I chose it because the building now is mostly covered in glass. The project is located on midtown Manhattan. This picture shows the early stages of the future high-rise building and as the class had stated it; it’s a good example of a “globalized economy”. From American and Persian investors, to the Latin American construction workers without forgetting about the Indian and Chinese engineers, that are probably involved too. All of them are part of the components in making the residential building a reality. The materials use for the project, just like the people working there, are from different parts of the globe. Most of the steel use in this building is from Mexico and South America as a raw material (iron), which then its send to US factories to be mix with an alloy to cut and create an steel alloy that will meet the demands of engineers. Same goes for the concrete and glass that is going to be use in the project which again the raw material will be from Latin America, Africa or Asia and would be manufactured in the US to meet their construction standards. All this makes the residential skyscraper to be not constructed with local material but that still meeting local construction codes. Also lets not forget NYC is one of the most diverse and globalize cities of the world making this new skyscraper to fit well with its surroundings.
