The garden itself was opened in the year 2000, after a delegation from Kaiserslautern visited Tokyo. In 2003 the city bought the tea and ceremony house, showed on the picture. It was originally located in a park in Tokyo where a Japanese minister used it as a guest house. The house was completely removed from the park, shipped to Germany and rebuild there. Besides the wooden parts which are from bamboo wood, a typical japanese construction material, there are also sliding doors made of rice paper, which is produced in Japan. The other materials used for this teahouse are of unknown origin. ![Teahouse in the Japanese Garden in Kaiserslautern, Germany][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14169100171673877.jpg
