In this picture we can see the advent of construction processes using the latest technology and the effects of a globalized economy. The crane in the picture is the product of German engineering and belongs to a german firm which received the sub-contract for the same. The wood used for scaffolding has been imported from Austria. This is a necessity since Dubai being a naturally arid and desert region does not posses any significant tree cover of its own. The steel rods which have been used for reinforcement have been prepared in U.A.E. itself although in all probability the steel for the same would have been imported. The labour force on the site consists mainly of Indians - from the coolies to the engineers. The technology being used on site is the culmination of research and development of technologies which have been derived from all over the world.
