The understanding of what role a station plays in its urban fabric depends on the 'act of investigating' the extent at which the activities penetrate in its surroundings- which not only offers dynamism to the area but also gives a sense of arriving in the station area. Stations are a dominant feature of the landscape and contribute a whole lot more to the city not just as a civic entity but as a destination. The station typology also serves as a magnet for economical activities emerged at individual and collective level which forms a periphery to the movement corridors. The role of existing physical components are evident in the nature of built form taken by the diverse functions and its multi dimensional aspects integrated with the urban surroundings. The negotiation of the interlinking of activities between streets and plots through multiple domains indicates tendency to spread outwards - the generic phenomena observed in all the cities, around the station building dominates the legibility of its physical setting. The station has a civic role as a landmark to the community it serves. Reflecting a quality of permanence and place, the real essence of its purpose is that of motion and escape to other places. It provides certain legibility to the area it lies in and gives an orientation to the people and defines the movement of people within the city. Sometimes station precincts prominently define an area and have an associational value for the local people, and through this picture i want to point of these above mentioned things. The location is Dadar Railway Station, Mumbai. Its the most busiest station in the city and carries a foot fall of half a million people every day. Also the basic information that can be extracted is the station area and its precinct and how this urban fabric is in the existing situation. The invisible information that can be obtained from this image is that, the effect of improper planning of such precinct area which has lead to spillover activities in its immediate surroundings and has hampered the basic functioning of this area. the other invisible information that can be extracted is that the pattern and the movement of people and other material in and around. the transportation network and the circulatory circuits in and around this area. The density of people using this area is also one element which can be decoded and which can help us give an information.
