It is an aerial view of parts of a neighborhood in Singapore. Almost 90% of residents in this city state country lives in public housing developed by government. In this photo, there are several data that can be extracted : area of the neighborhood - how many building blocks - how many storeys - building typology - facilities and amenities - residential unit typology ( studio type, 2 bedrooms, 3 bedrooms, etc) and how many units in one building block - no of residents living in this neighborhood, their group age - building material and architectural style From those data, some important information can be extracted. However, I want to focus on city living and housing. Therefore, we are able to identify information related to density and residents' lifestyle. From number of units and number of people living in this neighborhood, we are able to generate information about **density**. From number of residents, their age group, facilities and amenities, we are able to generate information about their **lifestyle**. Information about residents **lifestyle** will be important to understand the interactions between residents and between them with the environment. It will be valuable information used for planning and urban design since it determined type of facilities and amenities and programs need to be injected to the area. For example, if we have information about specific age group reside on this particular area, we can predict and create scenario for the future. If the majority of residents are couples in their 30s-40s with babies or young children, we can evaluate if the neighborhood have enough facilities (e.g. kindergarten, school, childcare facilities, family oriented amenities) to support this age group. Differently, if the neighborhood has majority of middle age group to elderly group, then different type of facilities, like elderly healthcare, clinics, etc should be provided for them.!
