Visible Information 1. People 2. Traffic 3. Traffic Lights 4. Buildings 5. Illuminated Signs & Advertising Displays Invisible Information 1. Energy Consumption in the form of fuel for the vehicles in traffic, electricity in the buildings, traffic lights and illuminated signs 2. Transportation data in the form of travel patterns for the various groups of people. One side of the road is densely populated with traffic, indicating a route out of the city to the suburbs, while the incoming route is lightly populated with inbound traffic into the city. ![enter image description here][2] The transportation data can be used to control the flow of traffic, by adjusting the way traffic lights moderate the outbound and inbound routes at junctions. It is clear from the photograph that most traffic is leaving the city in the evenings and therefore this information can be used to improve the planning of traffic controls in the city.
