This photo shows the amazing location of Vitoria-Gasteiz, which is the capital of Basque Country in the north of Spain. It can be seen the shape of an almond. Their buildings are closed together and there are several squares in the south, facing the sun. The streets are narrow and between the streets exist little narrow spaces named “caños”, old open pipes. There are four Gothic churches and a Renaissance square. It is a great part of the city. There is a lot of invisible information: underground the city there is groundwater, there are great buildings but others are destroyed and in ruin. The people, who live in that part of the city, cannot afford the renovation of their buildings. The city council and the Basque government have invested a great amount of money but there is much to do left. There is an automated vacuum waste collection system underground. The implementation of the pneumatic refuse collection in this area has contributed to reduce the amount of garbage trucks that drive through the narrow streets, and improve the quality of the air and the quality of live of the neighbours. That area is full of bars and restaurants and before the new system great amount of rubbish was thrown in the middle of the street mostly at night. The use of the technology has been used for living better without seeing the domestic waste.
