![enter image description here][1] This is the photograph of Mumbai CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus) suburban station. This station was earlier called Victoria Terminus build in 1888. This Railway system started in the year 1853. Suburban Rail transport is the most important public transport system of Mumbai city. It is the life line of the city. Mumbai CST station consists of 18 platforms, 7 for suburban local trains and rest for outstation trains. This is part of the Central Railway system. This station caters to more than 1300 trains every day. More than 4 million people use the suburban trains everyday. This photograph is taken during non peak hour when passenger is few. Some suburban trains are seen on the platforms. The platforms are double discharged, than means passengers can disembark from either side. This helps in clearing of the passenger rush, fast during peak hours in the morning and evening. Visible information is EMU (Electrical Multiple units) rakes on platform. Here invisible information is the number of rakes available, their daily maintenance schedule, the operating requirements including personal, the energy (electrical) used in running. Other useful details are number of passengers using the station, where they are travelling too, the frequency of these travelers using this particular station, the ticketing system etc.. Other information is lighting of the station during various period of day and amount energy that can be saved by using improved lighting methods. Also, the indicator boards shows the details of outgoing trains. Advertisement boards are seen hung at many locations. How much revenue they bring? Lot of information can be gathered.
