Uploaded on 2014-11-22 by AlejandroJSosa
Visible: The visible part of the city is its built enviroment. By looking at the picture one can distingush what time of the year it is. To some extend, a guess can be made of the geographical location - very likely a european city. The two buildings are of strong importance do to the architectonical dedication and place in the city they have. One can see that there are also tracks on the street, which belong to the tram. The amount of the people present also shows that it's a frequent used area with a lot of traffic. The building in the Front is the Parliament, the building on the right corner of the parliament with the visible tower is the City Hall. Invisible: Now i want to draw attention to the Tower of the City Hall; at the very top one can distingush what seems to be a small statue. Now, almost insignificant, this statue played a major role during the end of the 19th century. The statue shows a significant change in power. During the construction of the Ring Street in the 19th century many monumental buildings were constructed. By the wish of the king Franz Joseph I the Votivchurch was suppose to be the tallest with a hight of 99 meters. The City Hall was ordered to be smaller, giving him a hight of 98 meters. However at the complition of the City Hall a statue was put at the top of the tower with a hight of 5.3 meters making the entire hight of the main tower not 98, but 103.3 meters. ][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14166754329596481.jpg
