But the two pieces I'm most interested in are: 1) The flow of people into and out of the Chase bank. The measurement of this can help Chase to determine what days and hours more staff should be available to serve customers, and whether or not to increase the number of ATMs in the bank or open another location nearby. 2) The use of the Citibike (bike sharing) station. While it may be obvious that the station should be clear in the morning for arriving office workers and stocked in the evening for their departure, how should it be managed during the time in between? 5th Avenue is a popular shopping destination, so perhaps more people arriving to visit the shops, meaning bikes should be removed for more incoming. But at lunchtime, are the office workers using bikes to run errands and pick up a meal? With the introduction of the bike station, the travel behavior of people in the area may have changed significantly, resulting in a redistribution of money spent on lunch to a greater number and wider range of restaurants - possibly encouraging entrepreneurs to open new locations farther away from traditional transit routes.
