FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"

[1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14175355779981857.jpg Visible information: -------------------- By reading the picture from left to right, there can be observed: - a hill covered in vegetation (the 'Cetatuia'Hill, a landmark of the city and the location of an 18th century Habsburg fortification, offers from its top a ~270 degrees panoramic view of the city) - three housing buildings (dating from the 1960s), out of which two are renovated - the 'Somesul Mic' river - a gate-like metal structure holding high voltage power lines above the river - an in-between green area separating the river from the sidewalk of a street - a concrete pole supporting power and communication cables - cars parked in unmarked spaces along the road - some buildings in the background (out of which, the leftmost is the Hungarian Theater) - a tram line (that was built in the '80 in order to connect the most populous neighborhood of the city to the central railway station and further on to an industrial area that nowadays is subject for urban conversion due to deindustrialization) ---------- Two invisible information that can be extracted: ------------------------------------------------ - pictures of the river taken by visitors and posted publicly online - the hourly average number of people using the tram from and toward the nearby station from both possible directions (the highly populated neighborhood situated in the western side of the city and the former industrial area situated in the north of the city) ---------- Knowledge from the pictures of the river and possible usage: ------------------------------------------ The areas of the river with few or no photos posted publicly online by visitors are those that are not easily accessible. Thus, should it be possible, strategies of accessibility improvement should be adopted for those areas. Also, if most of the pictures of an area indicate a negative perception (negative content, title or comments), then possible measures need to be discussed by planners and decision makers in order to remedy the issues causing this.
