This panoramic shot is of the Kudesia Ghat in New Delhi. It highlights the plight of the river which is also the chief water source for the city. Only 500m upstream the water works at the Wazirabad barrage draw water from this river for the 10 million plus city of Delhi. Near the Ghats there is presence of the Rag picking collection centres and the organic and plastic waste ends up in the river. Such activities in the vicinity of the Ghats which are required for religious and ceremonial bathing during the Hindu festivals and cremonies is undesirable. It is a potential hazard not only to people coming in contact with the waters but also for the ecosystem of the river which is the life source of the city.
