[1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14174547811914243.jpg There is a whole variety of conflicting invisible information in this photo just taken of the centre of Oxford - Carfax, The old medieval crossroads of the city centre. The point where I took the photo appears pedestrianised. In a way it is however the large bus (280) would have run me over if I had not moved. There is a one-way bus priority here. The area to left is totally pedestrianised - sort of! While ahead lies the famous High Streetm which although closed to through car traffic remains a busy road. Note the pedestrians trying to crossover. The spire/tower although a beautiful church is now a university college library - an icon showing the domination of the University and the changing role and use of buildings. By contrast the festive lights simply on their own indicate the the desire to satisfy the retail (rather than educational needs) of our modern society!
