The coexistence of immigrants and native people. The multicultural aspect of the area. 2. The combination of local market, services and residence. 3. The simultaneous presence of older and newer buildings, both poorly preserved. 4. The bad look of public space. 5. The extended use of cars in combination to poor driveability: ex. parking on the sidewalk. Invisible information: 1. The poor economic status of the inhabitants, both foreigners and natives. This is extracted out from the condition of buildings and public space on the one hand and the presence of immigrants on the other hand. From the elder edifices we can conclude that the area has seen better times in the past. There was place of residence of more affluent social groups. 2. The difference in the appearence of the region between daytime and night: During the day is particularly lively. People come and go, the shops and services are open, cars and means of transport go by. When night falls, the streets become deserted. The image of desolation of the region during the night could be treated by redifining the use of the public space. This involves arrangement of activities that expand the neighborhood aspect and strengthen the bounds between the inhabitants. A careful planning of the public space would encourage people to maintain the life of daytime during nightime too.
