Making the invisible visible
FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2014-12-10 by menn
The first 'invisible' something in the picture is the transportational behaviour by the people here. Cars are generally not used to move around in the city. It's the bikes that portray the normal way of transport in the city. The cars are mostly used for transport to a place outside the city or further away. Consequently, the movements of people in the city is completely different from the type of movements around and out of the city. Secondly, the 'invisible' information that can be extracted from this picture is the supply of services to the people. Not just the waste containers at the side of the road, but also the lamps hanging between the flats and the lamp posts at the side of the road illustrate the services that are provided for the citizens living here. With respect to invisible information becoming knowledge, the behaviour of people in and around the city in terms of their movements on bikes, or using cars, can be analysed. By careful tracking of people's movements, simulation models can be designed and the infrastructure in and outside the city could be improved. ![Car park, flat][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1418228162565606.jpg
