Invisible Visible - Aerial view - Jimeta, Nigeria
FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2014-11-01 by americanuniversityofnigeria
This view was taken from my aerial research scope near the city center of Jimeta. The pile of rubbish that lines the side of the road is clearly the visible, but it is the invisible, despite what is not seen can be just as obvious. For example, who brought the rubbish, when was the rubbish dumped, where did the rubbish originate cannot be witnessed but clearly probing questions. The second invisible component is the health factors compromised by the rubbish. Pedestrians/drivers can be seen passing the rubbish, but we cannot see the health effects that the rubbish has on the pedestrians, residence and wildlife. How the people interact with the rubbish, how the rubbish moves and how many lives come in contact with the rubbish is invisible in this example. ![enter image description here][1] Understanding where the rubbish originates from can become a source of critical information in better understanding how to plan a more liveable urban space. Understanding the rubbish disposal path may assist planners in creating and utilizing effective waste disposal outlets optimizing a more liveable urban experience. Learning how rubbish is collected and disposed of must be considered when planning urban space so the invisible does not become a visible blight in a common space.
