Somehow traffic flows around our little street. - The river "Nieuwe Maas" is a big influence on this city. Economically it is the artery that connects the largest harbour in Europe with its hinterland. But also it is part of the local identity its shaped the city, it obstructs circulation but also allows breathing room and a restless living movement and even facilitates the need for bridges; that, in turn, become focal points, even iconicly so. The open gash of the river allows an appreciation of the scale difference between the old, small grain, street and the abstract behemoth of Koolhaas without the latter overwhelming the first. - The "De Rotterdam" construction activities are indicative of a living city that grows and develops and constantly puts an increasing amount of pressure on existing facitilies such as roads. - The Cruise ship docked here carries 4000 passengers. The disembarkment causes a huge but short spike in local tourism and obviously demands a lot of logistics. 1.2 - weather, climate, seasons ans climate change - the dynamic demands on infrastructure 1.3 - the monitoring and prediction of demands on the facilities of the city can increase efficiency and help in modeling growth potential of different areas or functions.
