This photo has been taken in Leiden, the Netherlands. Leiden is a city with a population of around 120.000 and it lies in the heart of a larger urban area, called [the Randstad][2]. This area includes Amsterdam and Rotterdam. On this picture the railway station can be seen, as well a bicycle parking (under the taxi stand). Furthermore offices of both public and private organizations can be seen. Furthermore trees can be seen. Based on the details in this picture a first thing that could be derived could be the number of commuters that live in Leiden and work in the surrounding bigger cities. The number of people that live in the villages and smaller cities around Leiden and work in Leiden could also be measured here. Also details about the kind of transportation they use (bycycles or local bused) could be derived from the information gathered at this place. A second item that could be looked into more closely would be the use of taxis. Where do the take people often and at what times. This information could be used to improve the network of busses or bicycle pathways. This last item could make Leiden a more liveable space, beacuse the city is crowded with bicycles and cars.
