Uploaded on 2014-11-12 by DanielPadilla
This is a picture I took of the place where I take a public car to my job everyday. The space beneath the Overpass on the 27th of February Avenue, one of the principal arteries of Santo Domingo (the capital city of my country, Dominican Republic), is stage of curious improvisations from people. It’s used as storage and selling space by street vendors, a place to sleep for the homeless and as **public car stops**, which explains the amount of people in the photo. This is one of the improvised stops officially used by the public car services, **where people make 2 rows and occupy part of the road where vehicles transit**, exposing themselves to the risk of accidents. -Visible Information 1- The rows of people occupying the road while waiting for their turn to take a public car. *Invisible Information* Transport Patterns (How much time people wait in the rows each day, Time spent until arriving to the destination, Reasons for taking the public car, Destination of passengers). This information can be used to provide better transportation systems; proper and more human spaces beneath the overpass for the people who wait for the public cars & understand why there are certain days where the rows are more crowded. -Visible Information 2- The interurban buses (buses from other cities). *Invisible Information* Index of the quantity of people from other cities which enters and leaves Santo Domingo daily and time periods where most of them do so.
