VISIBLE INFORMATION The picture shows the crossing of two main avenues, with a park in the middle. The Eixample, this district of the city, is known by wide streets that shape a regular grid. As seen, several trees are aligned in each sidewalk. Trees are one of the outstanding elements that provide quality to the urban space, as well as the balanced proportions of the urban components and the materials employed in the urban fitment. I've tried to capture the different flows of people in this particular crossing: pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, cars, bus... there's also the underground station, indicated with a red sign. In the category of “visual information”, we can also see a signal post that shows the temperature, the time and the number of bicycles that have used the bicycle path in two scales: day and month. INVISIBLE INFORMATION There are two main sources of invisible information: - Citizens using mobile phones. When we are connected to an open WiFi, or when we use some apps, we are a direct source of data. Even if we are just connected to Internet with our mobile device, info is flowing in both senses. - Urban sensors. In this picture, the most relevant urban sensor is the bicycle counter. It collects the number of bicycles, their route, the flows of cyclists along time,... This data can be use to improve the bicycle network and to promote the use of bikes as a vehicle and for sport purposes.
