This is a picture of the Brigade Road in CBD of Bangalore , India. This picture was taken for one of my Architecture projects by me. The visible information in the photo : 1) One way vehicular movement. 2) Parking on the road. 3) High number of pedestrians. 4) Commercial land use.Retail brands , Pubs , fast food restaurants , cafe etc. To understand more about the scenario , lets take a look at another picture looking towards the other side...![enter image description here][2] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14181370787912693.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1418137561118425.jpg In this photo we can see more congestion , care turning towards right ((look at the bottom of the picture )thats towards the church street which has good restaurants and provides comparatively better parking space and also the church street connects to some major roads ) The Brigade road connects MG Road from where the vehicles are coming to Residency Road where the majority of vehicles are going. The invisible information i derive from the pictures are : 1) Majority of the vehicular traffic on the Brigade Road is beacuse it acts as a connection between two main roads. The parking availability is less and both parking and movement is happening which again causes congestion. 2) The land value is very high. Property sizes are small.Setbacks are not given properly. Some buildings have split levels- the footpath provides access to a number of shops on raised ground floor and also to a number of shops at the basement level. Also , the scale of the buildings is suitable for pedestrians. No dominating high rise structure on the road. 3) The pedestrians are mostly the youth. No dustbins along the road. The urban space seen in the picture can be made more livable by 1) Either the vehicles using the road for passing by should be diverted through another route, or even pedestrianization of the road will help.
