In fact, the photo was taken from an above-ground MRT. Analyzing the billboard placements can contribute to marketing and advertising insights - is there a type of commuter and what does the typical commuter respond to? This can help plan a better city by strategically placing or removing billboards to avoid distractions and gain more targeted consumers.
