1. Water 2. Food 3. People Those are important stocks & flows in my city, San Pedro de Macoris, in Dominican Republic. 1) Water from the Higuamo River is an important stock used by a hydroenergy plant and factories as a resource for operations. Here's a Picture I found on internet of part of the Higuamo River, the industry in the image is the CEMEX plant in San Pedro de Macoris ![Higuamo][1] 2) Sugarcane is cultivated, harvested and processed to obtain sugar, which is exported to other cities and outside the country, thus making agriculture an important flow for the city. 3) San Pedro de Macoris is a city with an elevated flow of people coming in and out everyday due to the presence of the Universidad Central del Este (Eastern Central University), one of the principal universities of the country. Students, teachers and administrative staff travel everyday from different cities of the country (La Romana, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Higuey, Santo Domingo) & some come from out of the country and stay while studying (Puerto Rico). Here's a graphic which shows the Dominican Republic and highlights San Pedro de Macoris in red and the cities which create most of the flow of people in the city. ![Graphic][2] In the future, the river could contribute to the development of alternative and more sustainable ways to obtain energy in the city once a and it could become part of the public spaces of the city once again, after all, industries have damaged the river. The sugarcane industry could evolve into a more avant-garde industry, prepared for the challenges to come for agriculture in the future, even explore Urban Agriculture in San Pedro. The university will continue to bring the strong flow of people to San Pedro which will keep the economy running.
