The analysis is not all encompassing and might appear uni-directional but it is done on purpose to reduce the complexity of interrelations that generally result at this scale. The IT sector and related services in the city involve a wide range of national and global companies in large numbers. Obviously, this will invite an inward flow of people belonging to various cities as immigrants. This will in turn increase not only the stock of population i.e., density but also the housing stock as need and demand for the expansion of housing sector arises. These two stocks namely ‘population density’ & ‘housing demand’ result in the expansion of city limits with new residential neighborhoods coming up thus creating a flow of vehicular traffic. This has become a great problem in Hyderabad as the rapid growth of the city and its transportation demands are not being efficiently met by the public transportation resulting in a very large number of private vehicles on the streets. This in turn is increasing traffic congestion & air pollution. PROPOSALS: 1) LRT: Metro rail network is under construction trying to connect different ends of the city to various activity centers. I feel other supporting & feeding services along with road improvement schemes must be planned and implemented without much delay for this LRT service to succeed. 2) Increased dependence on public transportation will reduce the traffic congestion & thus keep a check on the stocks parking demand & air pollution. 3) Parking Plan: Master plan must be prepared identifying and catering to the growing parking demand in the city. Area wise parking lots or parking towers can be proposed to reduce the haphazard onstreet parking. Care should also be taken in approving new constructions that the parking need of the building would be well taken care of from the beginning.
