- People. Istanbul is a huge city with roughly 20 million people living here (stock). Data says that approximately 100 000 people move to Istanbul every year (flow). - Water. There are two seas surrounding Istanbul - Black Sea and Marmara Sea (stock) and Bosphorus connecting them and moving water (flow). This is main reason of this city's development in history. - Information. With how much this city lives basing on precious amount of information from the past centuries (stock), Istanbul also researches and discovers new things every day with its universities, institutes, research centers, international workshops and seminars (flow). This is the main hope of this city to ensure more sustainable future that it has now. There is hope that Urban studies can change first two stock and flows from becoming disastrous. Local people say that Istanbul is comfortable for around 5 million people, the city has 4 times more without any urban planning for it. City growing is happening without any control or even simple considerations. 1.5 million of Syrian refugees make the situation even harder. When it comes to water, seas are being polluted with a scary speed, Bosphorus is one of the dirtiest place in the world, and it still provides life for many people around it. Potable water came to scarce this August. Despite this news city is aggressively growing towards Black Sea.
