Arequipa, smaller stocks and big flows
FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 2: "Stocks and Flows"

- Urban density: Since 80’s, years of terrorism in Perú, many flows of people run away and move from the affected areas to the main cities in Peru, since then our cities (like Arequipa) weren’t prepared to received and integrated new urban settlements, that’s why immigration is creating new urban centers with varied densities randomly located throughout the city, without an urban plan this invasions cause chaos and disorder, unlivable new urban areas. Mainly these urban densities used to appear next to new vial infrastructure forming a “stripe” type of occupation, following this problem of vial planning. - The new built public transportation, informal the most of it in those new urban areas create pollutants nodes that are continuously moving and affecting people tranquility. The current policies do not regulate the amount of vehicles in relation of the roads capacity, like car import policies from industrial countries like China. This vehicles fleet is increasing and changing the relative temperature in the most crowded areas. ![ingrese la descripción de la imagen aquí][1] - Water, this valuable resource provides, in my opinion, the most important flow and stock in Arequipa. The location of Chili river designated the foundation area of the city, of crop fields along the riverbed providing food and recreational areas along the valley (stocks). This “natural scar” crosses the city giving life to it, instead the city return illegal sewage drains and no plans for environmental recovery of the river. The study and research of these new urban centers should be completed in the proposed of new urban typologies adapted to their environment, understanding the patterns of settlement and its evolution, (be-part-of) the integrated urban systems like energy flows (eco-transportation). New water management approaches for education, recreation, energy source and future urban life quality ![ingrese la descripción de la imagen aquí][2] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14181058195247126.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14181067226526223.jpg
