Food enters from surrounding territory and global trade as a flow, sometimes it is stored for long periods as supermarket stock before being consumed. The energy provided to human endevour becomes another flow, whilst sewage flows to be processed. Water in San Luis Potosi is held as a stock in reservoirs in the surrounding territory and also flows through the city's infrastructure. Cars can be a moving flow where they clog the transport network at various times of day and become stock as they fill the residential streets at nights or on Sundays. Most houses have space for one car but most families have 2-3. There is no bus service in the neighbourhood pictured. 3. A future benefit would be the reduction of the car stock and therefore a reduction of the flow. A train service (or monorail) would ideally serve the industrial zone of the city where many commute to and from work. The neighbourhood pictured is ideally located to encourage pedestrians. It is situated next to the park - an adjustment of opening hours, and development of the the entrance and walkways would encourage people to cross the park to access other areas of the city (doing wonders for their health). There is space to develop businesses in this area, decentralizing the resources and building a busy, more localized and therefore safer neighbourhood. Pedestrian bridges at the entrance to the neighbourhood and throughout the city could be developed to link neighbourhoods. Reduction of the car stock would improve the economic situation of many families by reducing debt and money spent on fuel. People would also see health benefits and be able to travel more quickly through the city on public transport through less congested streets. However, this solution is unlikely to happen whilst the major business investors are the automobile industry and many new constructions are going up, soon to become car showrooms - even replacing colonial style mansions on the city's main strip. It seems the volume of this stock and flow is only set to rise, especially as people are attracted to the city from the surrounding territory by the prospect of jobs in the automobile industry.
