Stocks and Flows of a farmers' market
FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 2: "Stocks and Flows"

Below is a picture of Columbia's weekly farmers' market. Each Saturday, local vendors set up shop along Main Street, selling a wide variety of goods. Several stocks and flows can be identified in the picture. A large and important flow present in the picture is food. The food travels from surrounding farms into the city, where it is sold to people, who then take it home with them. The tents and tables, in the background of the picture, is where the food is sold. Another example of a flow is capital and finances. Money plays perhaps plays the most important role in our society, and it is shown in this picture. The man in the turquoise long-sleeve shirt is holding a bag full of baked goods that he bought at the farmers' market, and several people are purchasing flowers in the background by the yellow sign. The capital generated from those transactions helps to fuel the growth of the local community. The last example I would like to present is a stock. People are always looking for new and fun things to do within a city, and without exciting things to do, people migrate to new places. By presenting them with new activities, people can be convinced to stay in the city. I hope this picture and paragraph provide enough stocks and flows for this assignment.
