1. Ecosystem services in your living area What ecosystem services do you have in and around your living area? Give at least one example for each of the four types of ecosystem services. I live in the city of Lima, in the district of La Molina. **Provisioning services** -Food: Food companies are located in the outer cities. Normally animals are raised in the mountain and then they bring it to the coast, where Lima is located. -Raw material: Our jungle provides us of all the wood for constructions and other materials as bamboo. There are also vast places to get material for constructions. -Fresh water: The Rimac River provides almost the 80% of all the water consumed in the city. But is a river with a lot of contamination mainly because of the waste of mining companies, in the pouring channel of Huaycoloro that also caters the main river. ![Rio Rimac][1] **Regulating services** -Local climate and air quality: Lima has a big deficit of green space in order to what World Health Organization (OMS in Spanish) recommend. It barely has 3m2 per person when is recommended 9m2 per person. -Moderation of extreme events: In some sectors of the city, we have a natural border name the Costa Verde. We can say it is a danger in earthquakes cases but also a help to prevent tsunamis. ![Costa Verde][2] -Waste-water treatment: Lima has 22 waste-water treatment plants. It is been treated 75% of the drainage water. **Habitat or Supporting services** -Habitats for species: Lima count with vast of species mainly located in the sea and its borders, also we have some big Green areas as Lomas de Lachay, located in the outer city, which keep the habitat for the species. ![Lomas de Lachay][3] **Cultural services** -Tourism: Lima has a lot of tourist places as the Lima Center, which has historical building and museums. Also has Parque Kennedy. It is located in Miraflores district is one of the most visited places in the city because of all the activities it has to offer. ![Lima center][4] ![Parque Kennedy][5] -Aesthetic appreciation and inspiration for culture, art and design: Barranco is of the most cultural place in Lima and also in the world.
