Regulating services Water Quality Water quality monitoring is performed regularly in the freshwater marshes and other water bodies in the Park. Parameters including water temperature, turbidity, biological oxygen demand, nitrogenous and phosphorus compounds, salinity, pH and dissolved oxygen are recorded. The data collected will be used for monitoring of water quality in the reconstructed wetlands and determine the filtering efficiency of the reedbeds in the Park, which are vital to the wetland habitats. ![][2] Hong Kong Wetland Park The 61-hectare Hong Kong Wetland Park demonstrates the diversity of the Hong Kong's wetland ecosystem and highlights the need to conserve them. It presents an opportunity to provide an education and recreation venue with a theme on the functions and values of wetlands for use by local residents and overseas visitors. ![][3] c. Cultural services COUNTRY PARKS A total of 24 country parks have been designated for the purposes of nature conservation, countryside recreation and outdoor education. There are 22 special areas created mainly for the purpose of nature conservation. MARINE PARKS The Marine Parks Ordinance protects and conserves the marine environment and a rich collection of aquatic animals and plants, such as corals, sea grasses and dolphins. The ordinance also provides the legal framework for the designation, control and management of marine parks and marine reserve. The Marine Parks and Marine Reserve Regulation provides for the prohibition and control of certain activities in marine parks and marine reserve. At present, there are four marine parks and one marine reserve.
