I live in Houston for 5 reasons** (I'm a Vietnamese and currently reside in Houston, Texas for a master degree) - I have my relatives here in Houston so it also means that Houston provide me with a familiar community from which I can be benefited. --> Community - Compare to other areas, housing in Texas, in general, or Houston, in specific, is more affordable. ---> Housing - Houston, with its comprehensive public school and high-quality private institution such as Rice University and University of Houston. ---> Education - Houston, hosting a cultural centre including many museum and art galleries, offer a rich cultural life for its citizens. ---> Culture - Houston economy, booming with oil industrial and space sciences, provide career opportunities for many graduates. ---> Job opportunity **3. My rating** - environment: 55 - infrastructure: 60 - economy: 80 - culture: 70 - political stability: 80 General livability score: 73 **4. What I would change:** - Everyday, I spend at least 2 hours just on driving to school. So the first thing that I would do is to solve this problem by: a/ Redesign the city so that getting access to public institution or workplace would be much more easier and faster b/ Encouraging more people to use public transportation by giving them more sufficient alternatives (now we have buses and light-rail line system but it doesn't matter compare to the vast territory of Houston. Maybe a subway system can solve the problem) - Houston is the most diverse ethnic city among the nation; however, these groups just centre around their communities. I wish to contribute to the exchange of these cultures so that tensions rooted from misunderstanding and prejudice could be deteriorated. **5.
