1. Infrastructure; 2. Climate; 3. Environment; 4. Sanitation standards; 5. Economy; **2. Why do we live where we live?** I currently live in my hometown, Vitória, an island in the southeast region of Brazil. I believe the five main reasons that make me live here are: **1. Environment**: My hometown is very known here in Brazil for its quality in environment care and political actions to promote such behavior throughout its citizens. Therefore, the quality of air is good, green spaces are quite large (even though climate changes nowadays are causing regular heatwaves, which aren’t helping at all to be outside) with several places where enables us to practice outdoor activities and many other things. ![][1] Big green masses are very present nearby my home, which is quite pleasant in so many ways. **2. Social network**: Being close to my family and friends have an important role for now, while I’m deciding my next steps in the professional and personal fields. **3. Economy (personal one)**: Brazilians are facing hard times lately when we talk about economy issues, with our markets going down the hill in the last two semesters, taking the country to a severe recession. Unnecessary to say that job opportunities are scarce as well as unemployment is sky rocketing. Hence the points above, my economic situation forces me to stay in Vitória meanwhile. **4. Infrastructure**: in the last decade, the infrastructure in my hometown became bigger and sophisticate enough to provide good services such as efficient public transportation, several new parks and an improved public healthcare recognize recently national and internationally. Also couple indexes, like GDP and HDI, has been grown. **5. Housing**: Being one of the key reasons I still live in my hometown, housing expenses around Brazilian cities are rising up ultimately, even more in the southeast region, where the financial heart lives, then is a bit hard to move out when the economical moment is not positive. Vitória also offers decent quality of housing (and together to a solid urban development) for a fair price. ![][2] Even with medium density housing, my neighborhood has good quality of livability **3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria?** 1. Infrastructure 70/100; 2. Climate 60/100; 3. Environment 80/100; 4. Sanitation standards 50/100; 5. Economy 30/100; Livability: 58/100 **4. What would you change?** I would certainly push for improve more the infrastructure side, investing heavily onto mass transportation such as light rail vehicles with terminals, bus corridors with adapted buses for the purpose, ferry boats to interconnect cities nearby, fill the lack of options that we have today. These actions would have a great impact for population in daily basis. **5. Why do we move?** Curitiba – *Environment / Climate / Culture / Education / Sanitation Standards;* Seoul – *International Connectivity / Climate / Culture / Transportation / Safety;* Vancouver – *Environment / Climate / Culture / Job Opportunities / Economy.* [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1456719562895119.png [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1456719533788271.png
