**Participatory Landscape Design** A participatory process should be inclusive, open and must promote tolerance and respect. The participating methodology allows establishing a frame where participants are able to assume that public space is for everyone. For that reason accurate communication channels must be settle down, in order to allow a dialogue between participants and tools to establish agreements. Neighbors are fundamental partners for landscape professionals to overturn their technical knowledge and creativity towards a coherent and functional project to build a more inclusive society. This design is marked by an interdisciplinary technical treatment and by the real participation of users and neighbors of those spaces. A reinforcement towards decision making and citizen control. The Government of the City of Buenos Aires has a program of Participatory Landscape Design that implements participatory processes for the design of public green spaces in the City of Buenos Aires. One example is the Parque de flora nativa Benito Quinquela Martin located in La Boca at the south of the city. It was the first public park of La Boca. ![][1] ![][2] ![][3] This experience was established as the first of its kind for the City of Buenos Aires, gathering more than 70 neighbors and 13 neighborhood organizations in there encounters. The participatory methodology was coordinated by the Buenos Aires South Corporation, and was supported by the Neighbors Commission. Through the recollection of information and the dialogue between neighbors, it was possible to arrive at an agreed basis for the park design project. It was defined, for example, that flora should be exclusively composed of native species; that park should have fences to control access; and that space for sports and cultural activities should be included, among many other things. It was also proposed that the park should be organized and managed in a participatory manner, through the establishment of a Neighbors Board to develop a Park Management Plan. Participatory design enables inhabitants to define the use of public space, which enhances the sense of belonging and care with the place, and gives a continuity in time foreseeing the participation management plans for the recovered places. When neighbors and the local government work together, the objectives are enhanced and this undoubtedly legitimate public policies. ![][4] ![][5] ![][6] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14621775773028179.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14621771915481259.jpg [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14621772414455135.jpg [4]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14621773524086559.jpg [5]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14621773919597684.jpg [6]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1462177419656914.jpg
