Significant amount of energy goes to residential uses as a result of the high household demand for air-conditioning. If people spend more time outdoor, people can reduce their dependence on air-conditioning. It is not practicable for people to fulfil their dietary need by growing their food by themselves. Hong Kong will continue to depends heavily on food import. However, people are interested in participating in growing their own food. The government may provide inventive, such as tax relief to people using their free time to grow herbs or fruit for own consumption. It may encourage people to go outdoor.
