![Israel sankey diagram consumption][2] 1. The dominant fossil fuel used in Israel is Oil. 2. Oil is mainly used for in transport, other, non-energy use and residential use. 3. It is not surprising that transportation is a major energy consumer in Israel. The lack of efficient public transportation has created a dependency on car ownership. As the population grows without addressing this issue we are looking into a polluted, energy wasteful future. Since the deficiency is so sever, it can also be viewed as an opportunity to make a significant change. Progress can be achieved by approching this problem from various perspectives: 1.First and foremost: provide energy and time efficient public transportation to encourage people to let go of their car. 2. Applying "carless zones" in dense urban areas (like in central London), where none residents have to pay for the privlage of driving a private car in a dense, well connected area. 3. National pro public transportation policy by tax reduction for car-less citizents.
