The dominant fossil fuels used in United Arab Emirates, being a country heavily reliant on the natural oil and gas reserves are oil and natural gas. ![UAE Energy Flow][1] **Q.2 Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country? (e.g. transport, industry, non-energy use etc.)** The fuels are used for industry and transport mainly **Q.3 It is your task to create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country. How would you do that? Think of how you can improve the sources and the consumption of energy.** UAE has abundance of solar energy; hence by introducing solar panels UAE could benefit by having a renewable source of energy. The UAE has no federal policy on energy yet. However there are several schemes for example with the EXPO 2020, the government has a vision to decrease greenhouse emissions by 2020. Most of the energy is utilized in transportation , whether people or building materials. One of the policies that I would introduce would be to have a minimum of 20% building materials need to be locally sourced. Moreover, some sort of rent control would allow people to live closer to their work spaces which would also reduce the energy utilized in transportation.
