For China specifically the dominant fossil fuel, by far is coal (1895 Mtoe) , followed by oil production (210 Mtoe). The rest of the oil needed is from imports , around 285 Mtoe. As we can see China's energy is mainly based on huge amounts of fossil fuels (coal and oil). The rest of the energy necessary is based on bio-fuels, gas and hydro-power. ![Sankey Diagram China 2013][1] **2) Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country?** Industry is the main user of fossil fuels, with coal being the most used (58%) more than half of all consumption. From the whole amount of coal produced in 2013, 2/3 went to electricity production, from which more than half goes to waste through power losses, while the rest, 1/3 goes directly for industry purposes. ![Resources Consumption in 2013 - Industry (the major)][2] ![Resources consumption in 2013- Other (second)][3] ![Resources consumption 2013 - Transportation (Third)][4] **3) It is your task to create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country. How would you do that? Think of how you can improve the sources and the consumption of energy.** Considering the numbers of huge rivers China has, Yangtze being an important resource , the main policy could improve the hydro-power resource, producing electricity, later used in industry. Basically shifting the industry from coal based to others, like electricity (already part of the industry is based on electricity, which in turn is produced mainly by coal consumption). Secondly China is already doing improvements in renewable energy resources "Donghai Bridge Wind Farm" being one good example. So maybe just continuing improvements in these areas and developing more projects like "Donghai Bridge Wind Farm", will switch the fossil fuel consumption toward more renewable energy! ![Donhai Bridge Farm - from http://www.renewableenergymagazine.com/article/asia-s-largest-offshore-wind-conference-begins][5] ![Donhai Bridge Farm][6] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14579377953492336.png [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14579378297485747.png [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14579378974957754.png [4]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14579380144757041.png [5]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14579376858051052.jpg [6]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14579381845536147.jpg
