-------------------------------------------- The routes in the diagram are numbered in order of preference. ![Routes Home to Work][1] ![Routes_tables][2] The first route (Route 1) consists of a 30 min walk, or 15 min ride, from home to work. The reasons why this is my favourite route is that it allows me to spend time with myself while doing some physical exercise. It also gives me the time to relax and gently enter the right mindset to start my day. Unfortunately the surrounding environment is not particularly appealing, which make this choice less than ideal. The route consists of a quite trafficked road, with pavements that for the most part are dirty and uneven. At times, however, the road goes through some newly developed areas that are architectonically more pleasant to the eyes. Shelter from direct sunlight exposure is not an issue here in Manchester, rather the opposite. The second route (Route 2) is my second choice, particularly in rainy days. It is faster than walking the whole distance, although the route is actually longer because of the bus detours. The bus is not overcrowded, which makes the trip quite a relaxed one. In the early hours of the day the buses are also clean, as opposite to the evening, when one can find a lot of litter on the floor. The third rout (Route 3) is herein just acknowledged, but I never resort to it to go to work. The walking distance from home to the departure tram station and from the arrival tram station to work is not worth the time nor the cost spent on this route. Besides the walking from home to the departure tram station goes through some very shabby areas.
