Analyzing the cities of U.S., we can clearly see the significant increase in temperature over time. By the way, “Climate Central” shows us that urban heat island is seriously affecting many of these places, with temperatures 27°F higher in some cities than them surrounding rural areas. As exemples, we have Chicago and Baltimore, 21 degrees hotter in the city than nearby areas, Seattle, 17 degrees hotter, and Denver, 23 degrees hotter. **2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area?** Increase of temperature, decrease of green areas inside urban areas, more buildings using air conditioning, increase of polutiong due to the high number of vehicles and industries. Increase of temperature up to 10 degrees celsius in comparison to the rural area nearby ![][1] ![][2] **3. Which are the measures you would propose?** I would encourage the construction of green buildings, using solar energy and decreasing the use of air conditioning. Also, the improvement of public transportation would contribut for the increase of its use, decreasing the polution generated by private transport. **4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area?** There isn’t any information about plans to reduce the UHI effect in my area.
