My place of residence the City of Coconut Creek used to be a agricultural town with a lot of farms, but in the past couple of years the town has become a place of residence for the people that work in close areas for example Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Coconut Creek claims to be a green city which I don't think that statement is true, because the majority of the energy we receive comes from non renewable resources. In the other hand Coconut Creek has a a lot of parks and recreational areas where the community can get together and enjoy some time together. Sometimes when I walk around I feel the change of temperature between the parks with a lot of trees and the streets and places where trees are not that abundant. In my opinion I think that trees play an important part in the changes of temperature. ![Coconut Creek][1]' ![Fort Lauderdale][2] In the first image we can see that there are more trees and less tall buildings and in the second image there is a big building and less trees. 3. Which are the measures you would propose? Well its hard to determinate what is the major factor of UHI, but I think that the lack of trees in cities is a major factor that contributes with UHI. 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? Yes, like I said before the City of Coconut Creek it has grown a lot in recent years. For that reason the government established natural conservation areas which protects those places not to be affected to build new developments.
