Done **2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area?** I live in Jakarta and it is now 89 degrees F, while Bandung is another city that’s less crowded than Jakarta is now 77 degrees F. Jakarta is 9.6 million (2010 UN Data) in population while Bandung is only about one-fourth in population, 2.4 million (2010 UN Data). Here is an image of Jakarta city ![Jakarta, Indonesia][1] Here’s an image of Bandung ![Bandung, Indonesia][2] The differences that contribute to the UHI effect of the two cities are the ratio between tall and short buildings. There are more big buildings in Jakarta than Bandung, though you can’t really see it here in the picture for Jakarta. There are also less green in Jakarta than Bandung. There are definitely more cars and highways in Jakarta than Bandung. **3. Which are the measures you would propose?** Transportation: I would definitely propose for automobiles sales to be capped and public transportation should be made reliable, convenient, and safe. There should also be more sidewalks, a dedicated lane for bikers, and motorcycle. The government should also support ridesharing as well as electric cars. Green Area: There should be a better green area ratio. Renewable energies: Subsidies to fossil fuels should be transferred to subsidies to renewable energies. There should be requirements for utilities to provide electricity using a certain percentages of renewable energies. **4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area?** The public transportation was made better; however, it has not been made convenient enough for the middle to upper class population to use it. Our Jakarta governor is currently working on reducing traffic, however, we have yet seen any result since he just started the initiative.
